Our Nurse of the month this month is Lourdes Schoch from Summit Pacific Medical Center. She was nominated with a very heart felt letter stating that she was dedicated, professional and not only is an excellent nurse, but an incredible human being. In her spare time Lourdes helps to feed families in a program she started. Here is what she says about her program: “My name is Lourdes and I’ve been a nurse for almost 10 years all in Grays Harbor. As nurses we don’t really expect to be recognized for the things we do. It our job to do what we do. A calling. As far as the Neighborhood Food Tribe goes, I never in a million years expected my crazy ideas to take off like they have. I was concerned for families, children and the elderly and their abilities to buy and access food and supplies. I set it up on a whim and it hasn’t stopped. Its not really because of me that these people are being helped. It’s because of the generosity of everyone else. I’m just the facilitator. Makes my heart happy. The community was able to provide 52 easter baskets and feed many, many people. We are doing our very first “social distancing birthday party” Saturday (another one of my ‘idle mind’ ideas). The event was a way to provide someone with a birthday party and for the community to make homemade cards, crafts, gifts, food or whatever their heart desires. A way to keep people and kids busy. A way to touch the heart of a stranger. Thank you to whomever nominated me. Its really all of you that deserve a pat on the back (or a hug).” Good job Lourdes, you are well deserving of Nurse of the Month. Listen to the interview with Lourdes below (posted later today)
